Khajuraho
a complex of temples of the northern type, with towers of a parabolic shape, built between 954 and 1050 in central India (the state of Madhya Pradesh). Of the 85 Brahmin and Jain temples, approximately 20 have been preserved (including the Kandarya Mahadeo temple, c. 1000). The plastic architectural forms combine organically with the erotic sculptures decorating the exterior walls. There are remains of a Buddhist monastery (the first centuries of the Common Era), and a colossal statue of Buddha has been preserved. REFERENCESKorotskaia, A.
