Khan-Tengri
a mountain in the Tengritag Range in the eastern part of the Central Tien-Shan; situated in the Kirghiz SSR. Mount Khan-Tengri rises to an elevation of 6,995 m, tapering to a sharp pyramidal point. It is composed of marbles and marmorized limestones. The most significant glaciation in the Tien-Shan, having an overall area of approximately 2,500 sq km, including the Inyl’chek Glacier, is found in the region of Mount Khan-Tengri and Pobeda Peak. Mount Khan-Tengri was first ascended by the Soviet mountaineers M. Pogrebetskii, B. Tiurin, and F. Zauberfer in 1931. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
