Khanykov, Aleksandr Vladimirovich
Born 1825; died June 30 (July 12), 1853, in Orsk Fortress, in what is now the city of Orsk, Orenburg Oblast. A member of the Petrashevskii circle. Khanykov studied at the University of St. Petersburg from 1844 until 1847. He frequented the meetings held in the apartments of M. V. Petrashevskii and N. S. Kashkin and helped spread the theories of C. Fourier. When the Petrashevtsy were tried in 1849, Khanykov was sentenced to death, but the sentence was commuted to mandatory service as a private in a line battalion. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
