Khatanga (khətän`gə), river, Krasnoyarsk Territory, N central Siberian Russia, formed by the union of the Kotui and the Kheta rivers. From the Kotui it is c.715 mi (1,150 km) long and flows north through the central Siberian Plateau past Khatanga village and NE into the Khatanga Gulf of the Laptev Sea, forming the southeastern border of the Taymyr peninsula.
