Khatib, Muhammad Lisan Al-Din Ibn Al 

Born 1313; died 1374. Hispano-Arab scholar, poet, historian, and statesman. Khatib, whose family was close to the emirs of Granada, held high administrative posts under the rulers of Granada and Fez. He was the author of approximately 60 works on history, geography, philosophy, medicine, and literature. He wrote A Narrative History of Granada and Book of the Deeds of Outstanding Persons. The latter is an important source on the history of Muslim Spain. Khatib, a master of refined compositions of poetry and prose in verse, is some-times called the “last poet of Granada.”
