Khimich, Georgii Lukich 

Born Oct. 22 (Nov. 4), 1908, in the village of Ulanovo, in what is now Glukhov Raion, Sumy Oblast. Soviet specialist in heavy machine building. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1968). Hero of Socialist Labor (1958). Member of the CPSU since 1952.

After graduating from the S. M. Kirov Urals Industrial Institute in 1936, Khimich began working at the S. Ordzhonikidze Urals Heavy Machine-building Plant. In 1956 he became chief designer of the plant’s rolling equipment. Under his supervision a number of unique rolling mills were developed as well as continuous steel-casting installations. Khimich received the State Prize of the USSR in 1950 and has been awarded the Order of Lenin, three other orders, and various medals.
