Khodzher, Grigorii Gibivich 

Born Apr. 5, 1929, in the village of Verkhnii Nergen, Nanai Raion, Khabarovsk Krai. Soviet Nanai writer who writes in Russian. Member of the CPSU since 1954.

Khodzher graduated from the history department of the Leningrad A. I. Herzen Pedagogical Institute in 1956. His works were first published in 1953. Khodzher is the author of the novellas Gulls Over the Sea (1958), Lake Emoron (1960), and The Great-grandson of Dersu Uzala (1962). He has also written short-story collections and the trilogy The Broad Amur (1970–71; A. M. Gorky State Prize of the RSFSR, 1973), which depicts the past and present of the Nanai people. Khodzher has also written children’s books. His works have been translated into the languages of the peoples of the USSR and into foreign languages.

Khodzher has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and several medals.
