Khokhriakov, Pavel Danilovich 

Born June 17 (29), 1893, in the village of Khokhriakovskaia, in what is now Kirov Oblast; died Aug. 17, 1918, in the stanitsa (large cossack village) of Krutikha, in what is now Sverdlovsk Oblast. Participant in the struggle to establish Soviet power in the Urals. Member of the Communist Party from 1916.

The son of a peasant, Khokhriakov served as a sailor in the Baltic Fleet. After the February Revolution of 1917 he became chairman of the ship committee of the RSDLP(B) on the battleship Zaria Svobody and an agitator in the Kronstadt soviet. In August 1917 he was sent with a group of sailors to the Urals, where he became a member of the executive committee of the Ekaterinburg (now Sverdlovsk) soviet. Khokhriakov assumed the position of chief of staff of the Red Guard in October. In March of the following year he was dispatched to Tobol’sk to suppress a White Guard plot and was elected chairman of the soviet there. Khokhriakov was killed in action and was buried in the city square in Perm’.
