Khrushchov, Vasilii Mikhailovich 

Born May 31 (June 12), 1882, in St. Petersburg; died Dec. 19, 1941, in Ufa. Soviet electrical engineer. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (1939). Member of the CPSU from 1940.

Khrushchov graduated from the Tomsk Technological Institute in 1908. He joined the faculty at the institute in 1914, becoming a professor in 1920. He began teaching at the Kharkov Technological Institute in 1923 and at the Kharkov Electrical Engineering Institute in 1930. Khrushchov was a founder of the Institute of Power Engineering (now the Institute of Electrodynamics) of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR; he became the first director of the institute in 1939.

Khrushchov’s main works dealt with problems of electric power transmission and distribution, methods of network analysis, and the design of high-voltage rectifiers.
