Khuta Berulava

Berulava, Khuta Mikhailovich 

Born Dec. 10, 1924, in Zugdidi. Soviet Georgian poet. Member of the CPSU since 1944.

Berulava studied at the Sukhum Pedagogical Institute. He graduated from the M. Gorki Literary Institute in Moscow (1952). He began to publish his works in 1941. His first book of verse (1944) was devoted to the heroic struggle of the Soviet people against the German fascist invaders. He is the author of more than 30 books in Georgian and Russian. Berulava’s poetry is full of enthusiasm and celebrates the new life (“Poetry,” “To Lenin,” and “A Century Hence”). In the poem “The Russian Heart” (1951), Berulava describes the friendship of the Georgian and Russian peoples. In “Song About Stars” he sketched colorful pictures of Georgian nature and the everyday life of the kolkhoz villages. He also writes for children.
