Kiakhta Agreement (1915)
a Russo-Sino-Mongolian agreement regulating the political and territorial questions relating to the recognition of Outer Mongolia’s autonomy. The agreement was signed in Kiakhta on May 25 (June 7), 1915, after trilateral negotiations lasting eight months. According to the agreement, China pledged not to move its troops into Mongolia, not to lay any claims to the colonization of its lands, and not to interfere in its internal administration. The Kiakhta Agreement recognized Outer Mongolia’s right to conclude international economic treaties. REFERENCESIstoriia Mongol’skoi Narodnoi respubliki, 2nd ed. Moscow, 1967.
