Kichmenga

Kichmen’ga, a river in Vologda Oblast, RSFSR; a left tributary of the lug (Severnaia Dvina basin). Length, 208 km; basin area, 2,330 sq km.

The Kichmenga takes a meandering course through a broad valley along the northern edges of the Severnye Uvaly. It is fed in various ways (primarily by snow). The average yearly water discharge 20 km from the mouth is 18.8 cu m per second. The Kichmenga freezes over in late October or early November and thaws in April or early May.
