Name Origin: For Jefferson Parrish Kidder (1815-83), VT legislator and lieutenant governor, MN legislator (1863-64), and associate justice of the Dakota territorial supreme court (1865-76; 1879-83). Area (sq mi): 1433.21 (land 1350.79; water 82.42). Pop per sq mi: 1.80. Pop 2005: 2,481. State rank: 42. Pop change: 2000-20005 -9.90%; 1990-2000 -17.40%. Pop 2000: 2,753 (White 98.90%; Black or African American 0.20%; Hispanic or Latino 0.60%; Asian 0.10%; Other 0.20%). Foreign born: 0.90%. Median age: 44.50.
