Kiliński, Jan
Born 1760; died 1819. Participant in the Polish Uprising of 1794. Kiliński became a master in the shoemakers’ guild in Warsaw in 1788 and a member of the city council in 1791. A leader of the uprising in Warsaw on Apr. 17–18, 1794, he commanded a regiment of volunteers. Kiliński was hostile to the demonstrations of the Warsaw common people on June 28, 1794. After the suppression of the uprising, he was imprisoned, along with T. Kościuszko, in the Peter and Paul Fortress. Kiliński was released in 1796 and subsequently disappeared from political life.
