Kilowatt 

a multiple of the watt, which is the unit of power in the International System of Units. It is equal to the power that produces work of a kilojoule in 1 sec. It is designated kW; 1 kW = 1,000 W = 1010 erg/sec = 101.97 kgf · m/sec = 1.36 hp = 859.84 kcal/hr.
