Kindle Paperwhite

A Kindle e-reader with a touchscreen and built-in light. Introduced in 2012, the Paperwhite eliminated the physical keyboard. It also added an LED that distributes light through an optical fiber to the front of the screen (the E Ink display technology does not support a backlight). See Kindle and E Ink.

The Paperwhite's built-in light made a huge difference, and the touchscreen was also an improvement.
