Leopold and Astrid Coast
a part of the coast of Princess Elizabeth Land (Eastern Antarctica), between 81° and 87.5° E long. The Leopold and Astrid Coast is the edge of the continental ice sheet, the surface of which drops sharply forming the West Ice Shelf. The area has been explored by Soviet antarctic expeditions. The coast was discovered in January 1934 by the Norwegian expedition of Lars Christensen and named for the king and queen of Belgium. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
