The Camden Hills development, located in Mississippi Canyon Block 348 and approximately 150 miles southeast of New Orleans, is the deepest field in the recently completed Canyon Express gas gathering system that links the Camden Hills, Aconcagua and Kings Peak fields.
TotalFinaElf and BP are operators of the Aconcagua and Kings Peak fields, respectively, and TotalFinaElf operates the Canyon Express gas gathering system.
The revision follows Pioneer's successful first production of its Aconcagua and Kings Peak
gas fields through the Canyon Express gas gathering system in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM).
BP, one of the many companies involved in a cost-cutting program, is considering offers for its interest in Kings Peak
and Aspen fields in the Gulf of Mexico.
The leases are in the Camden Hills, Kings Peak
and Aconcagua fields in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, located in 7,000 feet of water south of Alabama's Mobile Bay, near Coden.
The Williams Canyon Station facility will treat, process and handle natural gas and gas liquids from 10 subsea deepwater wells 55 miles south of the platform in the Camden Hills, Kings Peak
and Aconcagua Fields in 5,000 to 7,200 feet of water.
Just as important, it will also allow them to tie existing discoveries such as Ram Powell and Kings Peak
into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico where there will be nearly 1,000 OCS blocks available for lease in 2001.
The methanol will be used in the development of nine subsea wells in the Aconcagua, Camden Hills and Kings Peak
