Facilities: 147 campsites (32 with full hookups, 54 with water and electric, 2 @di), group campsites, 5 lodges, RV trailer rentals, showers, toilets, picnic shelters, hiking trails, bicycle trails, swimming beach, bathhouse (é), laundry, boat launch, lighted fishing pier, camp store, observatory, environmental education center.
Activities: Camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, interpretive programs.
Special Features: Kiptopeke has been the site of bird population studies since 1963. It features a raptor research area where birds of prey are observed and banded. Kiptopeke hawk observatory is among the top 15 nationwide.

Camping In addition to camping, Kiptopeke State Park has a guarded swimming beach on the Chesapeake, a fishing pier and a boat launch.
Since the completion of the bridge-tunnel, the Eastern Shore National Wildlife Refuge, Fisherman Island National Wildlife Refuge, and Kiptopeke State Park have been established for the protection of habitat crucial to the migrant and resident birds and endangered wildlife species.
Successes in the commonwealth include the creation and expansion of Kiptopeke State Park on the eastern shore, a 1,400-acre addition to Caledon Park and Natural Area along the Potomac River, and the establishment of the Rappahannock River Valley National Wildlife Refuge.
