Kirkintilloch

Kirkintilloch (kûrkĭntĭl`ŏkh), town (1991 pop. 33,024), East Dunbartonshire, W Scotland, on the Forth and Clyde Canal. An engineering center, the town has factories that produce mining machinery, valves, and concrete. The electrical power system of S Scotland is controlled from Kirkintilloch. Chartered in the 13th cent., the town is located on the line of the Roman Antonine wall.
