Kirsanova, Natal’ia Vasil’evna 

Born Feb. 12 (25), 1912, in Vladimir. Soviet textile designer.

In 1940, Kirsanova graduated from the Moscow Textile Institute. From 1942 to 1944 she worked as a stage artist at the Central Puppet Theater. She designed printed fabrics at the Ia. M. Sverdlov Factory from 1940 to 1941 and at the Red Rose Combine from 1945 to 1965. Kirsanova has worked at the combine of decorative and applied art in the Moscow division of the Art Fund of the RSFSR since 1965. She has created designs, with regular and free patterns (primarily floral, architectural, and landscape motifs), for decorative and dress fabrics, carpets, and curtains.

Kirsanova’s works include the decorative fabrics Moscow and The Russian Woman (both 1957), the dress fabrics The Viatka Toys and The Bell Ringers (both 1958–59), the carpet Evening in the Outskirts (handwoven, 1965, Russian Museum, Leningrad), and the curtain in the Palace of Culture in the Novotrubnyi factory in Pervoural’sk (1966).
