Kiselinchev, Asen Khristov
Born Sept. 13, 1905, in Sofia; died there, Feb. 3, 1960. Bulgarian Marxist philosopher, psychologist, and educator; academician of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (1958). Member of the Bulgarian Communist Party from 1927. In the 1920’s and 1930’s Kiselinchev contributed to Marxist newspapers and journals and was active in the antifascist struggle. He became head of the subdepartment of psychology, logic, and ethics at the University of Sofia in 1951 and director of the Institute of Philosophy of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in 1952. From 1957 to 1959 he was deputy minister of education and culture. Kiselinchev’s principal works deal with problems of psychology, pedagogy, and philosophy and philosophical problems in biology. He also criticized and exposed fascist ideology. Kiselinchev was awarded the Dimitrov Prize in 1950 and 1959. WORKSIzbrani proizvedeniia v 3 toma, vols. 1–2.
