Larnaca

Larnaca (lär`nəkə), town (1992 pop. 43,622), SE Cyprus, on Larnaca Bay. It is a port and district administrative center. Chemicals, refined oil, and salt are important products. The modern section of the town occupies the site of ancient Citium Citium , ancient city of Cyprus, on the southeast coast, the modern Larnaca; also called Cition. Of Mycenaean origins, it was a major port with valuable saltworks and an important center under Phoenician and Assyrian rulers. It is identical with the biblical Kittim.

. There is a tradition that St. Lazarus settled in Larnaca after his resurrection and became its first bishop. In the town is a fort built by the Turks in 1625.

From the ruins of ancient Kition to a church which was possibly once home to Lazarus ?
They were seized after a helicopter from the Portuguese frigate Corte-Real stopped an attack on the Norwegian-owned MV Kition on Friday.
Explosives discovered The Portuguese warship, the Corte Real, sent a helicopter to the area to help the Kition after a distress call was made.
