Klemin, Alexander (1888–1950) aeronautical engineer; born in London, England. Emigrating to America to study at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1915), he designed the first American amphibian landing gear (1921). He headed the Research Department of the Army Air Service, Dayton, Ohio, during World War I and was in charge of the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aeronautics at New York University (1924–41).
