Klossovskii, Aleksandr Vikent’evich
Born 1846 in Zhitomir; died Mar. 31 (Apr. 13), 1917, in Petrograd. Russian meteorologist; corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1910). Klossovskii graduated from the University of Kiev in 1868, and he defended his doctoral dissertation, “Thunderstorms in Russia,” in 1884. From 1880 to 1907 he worked at Novorossiia University in Odessa. Beginning in 1909 he worked at the University of St. Petersburg and with the Advanced Courses for Women. Klossovskii built a magnetic and meteorological observatory in Odessa in 1890–92, and he was one of the organizers of the meteorological network in southwest Russia.
