knowledge base [′näl·ij ‚bās]
(computer science)
A collection of facts, assumptions, beliefs, and heuristics that are used in combination with a database to achieve desired results, such as a diagnosis, an interpretation, or a solution to a problem.

(artificial intelligence)knowledge base - A collection of knowledge expressed using some formal knowledge representation language. A knowledge base forms part of a knowledge-based system (KBS).
