Koforidua

Koforidua (kōfōrēd`ä), town (1984 pop. 58,731), capital of the Eastern region, S Ghana. It is the commercial center for a region producing cocoa, palm oil, cassava, and corn; it also serves as a road and rail center. Koforidua was founded (c.1875) by refugees from Ashanti Ashanti or Asante , historic and modern administrative region, central Ghana, W Africa. The region is the source of much of Ghana's cocoa.

Koforidua 

a city in southeastern Ghana, on the AccraKumasi railroad. It is the administrative and commercial center of the Eastern Province. Population 69,800 (1970). The city is a trade center for cocoa and produces palm oil and fruit juice.

Fozi Asaman, Koforidua, Ghana, West Africa, PO Box 1733.
Born in Cape Coast on 22 November 1951, she had her elementary education at the Komenda Primary, Koforidua Girl's Secondary and Aburi Presbyterian boarding schools, after which she gained admission to the prestigious Wesley Girl's High School in Cape Coast where she took her O and A levels, which helped her to gain admission to the University of Cape Coast in 1973.
Greenpeace said it visited two scrapyards -- one at Abogbloshie in the centre of Accra, the main centre for recycling computers in Ghana, and one in the city of Koforidua in the country's Eastern Region.
