Kohat

Kohat (kō`hät), town (1981 pop. 55,832), N Pakistan, on the Kohat Toi River. The town, enclosed by a wall with 14 gates, is noted for its cotton fabrics and lungis. Kohat contains a 19th-century British fort built on the site of an old Sikh fortress.
Kohat 

a city in Pakistan, in the Northwest Frontier Province, on the Kohat Toi River. Population, 49,900 (1961). A railroad station. Weaving is the city’s major handicraft. There are large salt mines near Kohat. Kohat arose as a military settlement near the Kohat Pass.
