Kokorekin, Aleksei Alekseevich
Born Mar. 17 (30), 1906, in Sarykamysh, in the present-day vilayet of Kars, Turkey; died Dec. 29, 1959, in Moscow. Soviet graphic artist. Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR (1956). From 1927 to 1929, Kokorekin studied at the Kuban’ Technicum for Art and Pedagogy in Krasnodar. Beginning in 1929 he lived in Moscow. Kokorekin was primarily a poster artist. In his political posters he depicted courageous, strong-willed Soviet people, using large-scale representations and picturesque color schemes (similar to those of easel painting). Examples of his posters are May Day: We Are With You, Comrades! (1933) and For the Homeland! (1942). Kokorekin also executed thematic pictures, landscapes, and illustrations. He was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1946 and 1948. REFERENCE[Demosfenova, G.] A. A. Kokorekin. Moscow, 1952.Want to thank TFD for its existence?
