Kolding

Kolding (kôl`dĭng), city (1992 pop. 45,514), Vejle co., S central Denmark, a port on Kolding Fjord, an arm of the Lille Bælt. It is a commercial, industrial, and fishing center that produces ships, machinery, and textiles. Of note in the city are Koldinghus, a royal castle built in 1248 that now houses a historical museum, and the oldest stone church (built in the 13th cent.) in Denmark.

a port in Denmark, in E Jutland at the head of Kolding Fjord (an inlet of the Little Belt). Pop.: 54 941 (2004 est.)
