Komarovsky, Mirra (1906– ) sociologist; born in Russia. Emigrating as a teenager to the U.S.A., she was educated at Columbia University and taught at Barnard College (1938–74). Pioneering research on leisure time and unemployment, she developed the techniques of repeated interviews and the use of selected case histories. Her books include Women in College (1985). |
