Konishi, Yukinaga
Born c. 1556 in Sakai; died 1600. Military leader in feudal Japan. The son of a wealthy merchant. Konishi took part in the wars of unification on the side of the general and statesman Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He commanded one of the Japanese armies during the campaigns of aggression against Korea in 1592–93 and 1597–98. During the struggle for power which arose after the death of Toyotomi, he opposed Tokugawa leyasu. Defeated at the battle of Sekigahara (1600), he was executed. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
