Satunin, Konstantin Alekseevich
Born May 20 (June 1), 1863, in Yaroslavl; died Nov. 10 (23), 1915, near Mtskheta, Georgia. Russian zoologist. Satunin graduated from Moscow University in 1890. Beginning in 1893, he worked at a Caucasus sericultural station. He was a senior specialist for the Department of Agriculture on applied zoology and hunting in the Caucasus from 1907 until his death. Satunin’s principal works dealt with the mammals of Russia and Central Asia; he described many new forms. Many of his works were on the fauna (primarily vertebrates) of the Caucasus and on entomology, ichthyology, ornithology, herpe-tology, zoogeography, sericulture, game management science, and fishing.
