Sukhanov, Konstantin Aleksandrovich 

Born Mar. 6 (18), 1894, in Blagoveshchensk-na-Amure; died Nov. 18, 1918, in Vladivostok. Participant in the struggle to establish Soviet authority in the Far East. Member of the Communist Party from 1913.

The son of a civil servant, Sukhanov attended the University of St. Petersburg from 1912 to 1916. He was active in party work in St. Petersburg and Vladivostok. After the February Revolution of 1917 he headed the labor commission of the Vladivostok soviet and was a trade-union organizer. He was a member of the Vladivostok Committee and later of the Far East Committee of the RSDLP(B). In October 1917 he joined the krai party organization bureau of the Far East, and in November of the same year he became chairman of the Vladivostok soviet. He was also a member of the Far Eastern Council of People’s Commissars. In June 1918, after Vladivostok was captured by the White Guards, Sukhanov was arrested and later shot.
