(stage name of Gotfrid Gering). Born 1845 in St. Petersburg; died 1920 in Tbilisi. Russian opera baritone.

Korsov graduated from the department of architecture of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg (1864). He studied singing in Italy (master classes with J. Corsi) and made his debut in Turin. In 1869 he joined the Mariinskii Theater in St. Petersburg and appeared periodically on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow (he joined it permanently in 1882 and remained there until 1904). Korsov also gave recitals.

His major roles included Rigoletto, lago, and Germont (Rigoletto, Otello, and La Traviata by Verdi), Aleko (Aleko by Rachmaninoff), Boris (Boris Godunov by Mussorgsky), Petr (The Power of Evil by Serov), The Demon (The Demon by Rubinstein), and Mizgir’ (The Snow Maiden by Rimsky-Korsakov). Korsov was an Honored Artist of the Imperial Theaters. He left the stage in 1905.
