Krüger, Johannes Heinrich Louis
Born Sept. 21, 1857, in Elze; died there Jun. 1, 1923. German geodesist. From 1884 he was assistant and then professor at the Prussian Geodetic Institute in Potsdam. In developing the ideas of K. Gauss, Krüger worked out a method for solving the arbitrary equations that arise in triangulation by dividing them into two groups. He also devised a mathematical technique for the conformal projection of an ellipsoid onto a plane, which has come to be called the Gauss-Krüger projection. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
