Kraatz, Helmut
Born Aug. 6, 1902, in Wittenberg, district of Halle. German obstetrician-gynecologist; member of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin (1956); Foreign Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1963); Honored Physician of the German Democratic Republic (1950). Kraatz graduated from the medical department of the University of Berlin in 1928. In 1949 he became director of the clinic of Women’s Diseases of the University of Halle and in 1952, director of Charite Gynecological University Clinic in Berlin and chief of the gynecology subdepartment of the German Academy for the Advanced Training of Physicians. His principal works were devoted to various aspects of obstetrics and gynecology and to gynecological oncology and urology. Kraatz became editor in chief of Zentralblatt für Gynïkologie in 1961.
