Kramer, Amihud

Kramer, Amihud (1913–81) food scientist; born in Austria-Hungary. He came to the University of Maryland (1934) where he stayed through his Ph.D. (1942). He worked at the National Canners Association developing an objective method for measuring food quality (1941–44) and then for the National Research Council to revise nutrient tables (USDA Handbook No. 8) before returning to teach at the University of Maryland (1948–80). He coauthored Quality Control for the Food Industry (1970, 1973). He died unexpectedly during a game of tennis.
