Krestovnikov, Grigorii Aleksandrovich

    0.01 sec.
Krestovnikov, Grigorii Aleksandrovich

Born Jan. 10, 1855, in Moscow; year of death unknown. Russian political figure.

Krestovnikov was a member of the councils and of the boards of several large enterprises, chairman of the board of the Moscow Merchants’ Bank from 1903, and chairman of the Moscow Exchange Committee and member of the Board of Congresses from 1905 to 1915. In 1906 he became a member of the State Council representing the commercial and industrial bourgeoisie. A strong advocate of “businesslike” cooperation of capital with autocracy, Krestovnikov held extremely reactionary views on the labor question, for instance, while serving on Kokovtsov’s commission in 1905. Krestovnikov became chairman of the Commercial and Industrial Party in 1905–06 and from 1906 was a member of the Central Committee of the Octobrists’ Party. After the October Revolution of 1917, Krestovnikov became a White émigré.
