Krinitskii, Aleksandr Ivanovich 

Born Sept. 9, 1894; died Oct. 30, 1937. Soviet state and party figure. Member of the Communist Party from 1915. Born in Tver’, now Kalinin; son of a petty official.

Krinitskii enrolled in the department of natural science of Moscow University in 1913 and participated in revolutionary student circles. Arrested and sentenced to settlement indefinitely in Siberia in 1915, Krinitskii was freed by the February Revolution of 1917. He was elected chairman of the Tver’ province committee of the party in March 1917. He was a delegate of the Seventh (April) Conference of the RSDLP (Bolshevik) in 1917. After serving as chief of the agitation and education department of the Southern Front in 1918, he became secretary of the Saratov province committee of the RCP(B) in 1919. He became chief of the organization department of the Moscow committee of the party in 1921. He was secretary of the Rogozhskaia-Simonov raion committee of the RCP(B) in Moscow in 1921–22. From 1922 to 1924 he was secretary of the Omsk, and then of the Donetsk, oblast committees of the party. He was secretary of the Central Committee of the CP (Bolshevik) of Byelorussia in 1925.

Krinitskii held the posts of chief of the agitation and propaganda department of the Central Committee of the ACP (Bolshevik) from 1926 to 1929, secretary of the Transcaucasian Krai Committee of the Party in 1929–30, and deputy people’s commissar of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Inspection from 1930 to 1932. While a member of the editorial board of the journal Bol’shevik from 1930 to 1935, Krinitskii served as deputy chief of the agriculture department of the Central Committee of the ACP(B) and chief of the political administration of the People’s Commissariat of Agriculture of the USSR from 1933 to 1935. He became a secretary of the Saratov Krai Committee of the ACP(B) in 1935. He was a delegate to the Ninth through Eleventh and Thirteenth through Seventeenth Party Congresses. Krinitskii was elected candidate member of the Central Committee of the ACP(B) at the Thirteenth through Sixteenth Congresses and member of the Central Committee at the Seventeenth Congress. He also became a candidate member of the Organization Bureau of the Central Committee of the ACP(B).
