Krohg, Per 

Born June 18, 1889, in Åsgårdstrand, Vestfold; died Mar. 3, 1965, in Oslo. Norwegian painter.

Krohg studied under his father, C. Krohg, between 1903 and 1907 and in the studio of H. Matisse in Paris from 1908 to 1909. He taught as a professor at the Academy of Art in Oslo between 1946 and 1958. Krohg painted large-scale colorful murals dealing with the past and the present (in the powerhouse of an electric power plant in Oslo, 1932; in the University of Oslo, 1933 and 1936 to 1937; in Oslo’s Rådhus, 1939–1949; and in the United Nations building in New York, 1952).
