Kromĕříž
a city in Czechoslovakia, in the Czech Socialist Republic, south Moravia, on the Morava River. Population, 22,800 (1971). There are machine-building and food-processing industries. Architectural monuments include the Gothic cathedral of St. Moric (13th to 19th century), a town hall (early 17th century, Renaissance style), baroque churches (18th century), and a bishop’s palace (17th to 18th century), with a gallery, library, and collection of coins and medals.
