Krøyer, Peder Serverin
Born July 23, 1851, in Stavanger, Norway; died Nov. 20 or 21, 1909, in Skagen. Danish realist painter. Krøyer attended the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen from 1864 to 1870; from 1877 to 1879 he worked in the studio of J. L. Bonnat in Paris. He painted portraits (portrait of H. Drach-mann, 1902; Hirschsprung Collection, Copenhagen) and scenes from everyday life (Fishermen on the Seashore, 1883; State Art Museum, Copenhagen). Krøyer sought to communicate movement, as well as the ambience of light and air and its effect on the form of his subjects. REFERENCEChristensen, H. Chr. P. S. Krøyer. Copenhagen, 1923.Want to thank TFD for its existence? Tell a friend about us, add a link to this page, add the site to iGoogle, or visit the webmaster's page for free fun content. |
