    0.01 sec.
Kruglov, Georgii Georgievich

Born Oct. 15 (28), 1905, in Riga. Soviet ceramic artist. Honored Art Worker of the Latvian SSR (1945).

Kruglov studied at the Latvian Academy of Arts in Riga from 1921 to 1930 and under A. Hennig at the State School of Ceramics in Bunzlau in Germany (now Boleslawiec, in the People’s Republic of Poland) from 1932 to 1933. In Riga, Kruglov taught at the School of Artistic Crafts (1934–40) and at the Academy of Arts of the Latvian SSR (from 1944; prorector, 1944–45 and 1947–67; professor, since 1961).

Particularly in his decorative vessels, Kruglov strove for sharp plastic resolutions and new forms and means of decoration (texture, overlay, and glazes) that conformed with the properties of the materials and production techniques.
