    0.01 sec.
Kuchishvili, Georgii Andukaparovich

(pseudonym of G. A. Chkheidze). Born Oct. 17 (29), 1886, in the village of Mere, now in Telavi Raion; died Jan. 20, 1947, in Tbilisi. Soviet Georgian poet.

Kuchishvili’s work is closely tied to the revolutionary struggle of the proletariat. His poetry collection appeared in 1914; in it Kuchishvili wrote about the life of the poor and urged the working class to political activism. Kuchishvili welcomed the Great October Socialist Revolution (in “October Morning” and “New Workers’ Song”) and sang the praises of socialist construction (in “The Strength of Millions” and “ZAGES”). During the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45, Kuchishvili’s verses inspired soldiers to feats of arms. He continued the traditions of Georgian classical realistic lyrical poetry in form. Kuchishvili was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and a medal.
