Kufstein

Kufstein (kf`shtīn), city (1991 pop. 13,528), in Tyrol prov., W Austria, on the Inn River, near the German border. It is a summer and winter resort. Manufactures include skis, glass, armatures, and metalware. The fortress of Geroldseck, rebuilt by Emperor Maximilian I in the 16th cent. on 12th-century foundations, contains a modern organ famous for its great size and power.
