Kumanovo

Kumanovo (k`mänôvô), town (1994 pop. 94,589), in Macedonia. Located in the center of a tobacco-growing region, its major industries are tobacco processing and canning. The Serbs won a decisive victory over the Turks at Kumanovo in 1912.

French forces were to move from the city of Kumanovo, entering Kosovo from the east, a route that would take them through Serbia proper.
The missing soldiers were driving a Humvee on a reconnaissance patrol in Macedonia about three miles from the Kosovo border near the town of Kumanovo, Bridges said.
The Army team had been on a daytime reconnaissance mission in the Kumanovo area, about 3 miles from the southern Yugoslavia border when they reported ``they received small arms fire and said they were surrounded,'' according to NATO.
