Kuperman, Iser Iosifovich

Kuperman, Iser Iosifovich 

Born Apr. 28, 1922, in the village of Polesskoe, in present-day Kiev Oblast. Soviet sportsman (Russian and international checkers), International Grandmaster (1958), Honored Master of Sport and Grandmaster of the USSR (1960); engineer.

Kuperman was the Soviet champion in Russian checkers in 1945, 1947, and 1948 and in international checkers in 1954, 1955, 1956, 1962, and 1967. In 1965 he was holder of the Cup of Europe, and from 1958 to 1967 he was five times the world champion in international checkers. He has been awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor.
