Kusov, Dmitrii Ippolitovich
Born Sept. 10 (22), 1889, in Vladikavkaz, present-day Ordzhonikidze; died there Feb. 13, 1964. Soviet Ossetian dramatist. Member of the CPSU from 1945. Kusov wrote in both Russian and Ossetic. He is the author of the plays Children of the Mountains (staged in 1912), Zaurbek (1914); White Mist (1920; staged in 1928), about the events of the Civil War of 1918–20; Mariam (1927), about emancipation of the mountain women; and Land (staged in 1938). Kusov’s play The Singer of the People (1939) is devoted to the life and work of K. Khetagurov. His later plays include The Damned (1943), Urmuli (1948), and Khadzimet Ramonov (1949).
