Laborde, Alden James (1915– ) oil executive; born in Vinton, La. He spent his career in the oil industry. He was founder and president of Ocean Drilling & Exploration Co. (1953–74; CEO and chairman 1974–77), where he invented the mobile offshore oil drilling rig (1954). He was later an industry consultant (1977–85) and CEO and chairman of Gulf Island Fabrication Co.
